Definition
What is a GEO content writer?
Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the work of getting your brand named and cited in AI answers. A GEO content writer helps with the writing part: it produces pages built around one question, answered early and plainly, in short sections an AI engine can lift and quote.
What sets Content Studio apart from a general AI writer is where the work starts. You don’t begin with a blank prompt. You begin with a question Rankry already found in your data, such as a prompt where no brand owns the answer, or a task from your Action plan, and the brief arrives pre-filled.
Content Studio searches for relevant primary sources and uses the pages it can read to help build your outline and article.
Your project keeps a recommended brand voice based on your website. You can adjust it for each article.

Writing for AI
How do you write content that gets cited by ChatGPT?
Nothing guarantees a citation, but pages that get quoted tend to share a shape. They answer the question in the first two or three sentences. They use the question, or something close to it, as a heading. They give specifics: steps, prices, numbers, named examples. They put comparisons in tables. And each section makes sense when it is quoted without the rest of the page.
They are also easy to find and read. AI engines that search the web can only cite pages their crawlers can reach, so the content should be in the HTML, the crawlers allowed in robots.txt, and the page linked from the rest of your site. Rankry’s AI Readiness audit checks many of these signals on your homepage.
Finally, they add something. A page that repeats what ten others say gives an engine no reason to pick it. Your own data, pricing, customer examples and opinions are what a draft can’t invent, so add them when you edit.
Limits
What Content Studio doesn’t do
It is a drafting tool. Know the edges before you rely on it.
- It doesn’t publish to WordPress, Webflow or any other CMS. You export and publish.
- It doesn’t check facts. Read every draft and verify every claim before it goes live.
- Your plan sets a monthly article allowance, shared across your projects.
Before you publish
What should I check before publishing a draft?
Facts, numbers and names first. Review the sources behind factual claims, and remove or correct anything you can’t confirm. Replace generic examples with your own: real prices, real customer situations, real screenshots.
Then check the shape. Does the opening answer the question in two or three sentences? Does each section make sense on its own? Does the page say plainly what your product does and who it is for? Those are the parts an AI engine is most likely to quote.
Measure it
How do I know if a new article got cited?
Track the question it was written for. If you started from an opportunity, the prompt is already tracked. After you publish, each report shows whether the engines name you for it, at what position, and which sources they used, so you can see when your page starts appearing.
Reports re-run automatically every day, or every 3 or 7 days if you choose, and every run is kept in the prompt’s history. Give a page a few cycles before you judge it. The Sources page shows whether your domain is among the sources AI cites in the current report.
If the page isn’t picked up, check the basics first. Can AI crawlers reach it? Does it answer the question in its opening lines? Is it linked from pages that already get traffic?

How many articles can I create?
Your plan sets a monthly article allowance, shared across your projects. Preparing a brief, answering questions and reviewing an outline do not use an article. Generation uses one article from your allowance.
Does Content Studio research the web?
Yes. Content Studio searches for relevant primary sources and uses the pages it can read to help build your outline and article. Add your own facts and examples, and review the sources before publishing.
Can Content Studio publish to WordPress or another CMS?
Not directly. Copy the article into your CMS, or export it as Markdown, CSV or Word (DOCX).
Is AI-written content penalised in AI search?
Google has said it judges content on whether it is helpful, not on how it was produced. What tends to fail is thin, generic text, whoever wrote it. Treat a draft as a starting point: add your own facts, examples and opinions, and check every claim.
How is GEO content different from SEO content?
Most of the basics are shared: clear structure, real expertise, useful pages. GEO puts more weight on answering early, on sections that stand alone when quoted, on tables and specifics, and on being named next to the right brands. A page can serve both, and usually should.
Can I write from a specific AI search opportunity?
Yes. Press “Write” next to an open question on the Opportunities page or in the Action plan, or use “Write an article” in a prompt’s panel. Rankry creates a “Write article” task for that prompt and opens Content Studio with the brief pre-filled.
Why does Content Studio ask questions?
Content Studio asks up to three focused questions when your brief needs more detail. A complete brief may need no extra questions.
Can I review the outline before generating?
Yes. Review and edit the title, angle and sections, then approve the outline to generate the article.
Where do content tasks come from?
Start with New article in Content Studio, or open a content task from your opportunities, Action plan or Tasks page. Content tasks without article text appear in To write. Articles you’re working on appear in Draft. Mark an article complete to move it to Completed.
Can it write in languages other than English?
Yes. The language setting is free text and defaults to English. Have a native speaker review drafts in other languages before you publish.
