Your GEO action plan: what to fix first
Rankry reads your latest report and lays out how to raise your AI visibility, in order: fix what keeps AI from reading your site, win the questions no brand owns, then take answers from competitors. Each move becomes a task you can track.

In short
A GEO action plan is an ordered list of the changes most likely to get your brand named in AI answers. Rankry builds one from your latest report: it shows where you stand, then three steps, “Fix your website”, “Win open questions” and “Beat your competitors”, each with action cards you can add to Tasks and tick off.
The order
How do I improve my brand’s visibility in AI search?
Work in order. AI engines can only name you if they can read your site. They are easiest to win where no one owns the answer yet. Taking answers from established rivals takes the longest. That order is the backbone of Rankry’s Action plan, and it holds for most brands whatever tool you use.
The page opens with “Where you stand”: the share of AI answers that name you, how many points you are behind the most named brand (or “You are the most named brand.”), and a “By model” bar that shows which engines name you and which don’t. That is your baseline before you change anything.
Below it are the three steps. Each has its own cards, and each card says what to do, how much impact and effort to expect, and how soon it might pay off.
The steps
What are the three steps in the plan?
The titles and subtitles below are exactly what you see in the app.
| Step | What it says | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Fix your website | “AI can’t read parts of your site. Fix these first: they hold back every other step.” When there is nothing to fix: “AI can read your site. Nothing to fix.” | Your AI Readiness audit findings and the technical actions in your plan. |
| 2. Win open questions | “AI cites many sources here and no brand owns the answer. Write for these and they can be yours.” Your top five, each with a “Write” button, plus a link to see them all. | Your tracked prompts that qualify as “Open field” or “Low competition”, calculated from report data. |
| 3. Beat your competitors | “Where AI names them and not you, and the moves that take those answers.” Your top three rivals by mentions, the questions they won, and moves with the most impact first. | The answers in your report and the analysis behind your plan. Rivals you don’t track yet are flagged “Not tracked”. |
Action cards
What is on an action card?
Every move in the plan is a card you can act on.
Impact and effort
How much the move should help and how much work it takes, so quick wins stand out.
Time to impact
A rough sense of how soon the change could show up in answers.
Questions it takes back
“Takes back N questions” shows how many tracked prompts the move targets, with the rivals who win them now.
Add to Tasks
One click puts the card on your task list. The button changes to “In Tasks”, then to “Done” when you finish.
Add all at once
Take every move in a step with “Add all N to Tasks”.
Step-by-step detail
Cards on Base and Pro carry step-by-step guidance and a goal for each move.
Routine
How do I work through the plan?
A routine that fits your report schedule: daily, every 3 days or every 7 days.
- 01
Build the plan
When a report is ready, open Action plan and press “Build the plan”. It takes a minute or two.
- 02
Start with step 1
Fix what keeps AI from reading your site first. Those issues hold back every other step.
- 03
Write for open questions
Press “Write” on the top questions in step 2 to start drafts in Content Studio.
- 04
Pick competitor moves
In step 3, add the highest-impact moves against the rivals who win the most answers.
- 05
Run it from Tasks
Set priorities, mark tasks in progress, snooze what can wait, and tick off what ships.
- 06
Check the next report
Reports re-run automatically every day, or every 3 or 7 days if you choose. Compare “Where you stand” with your baseline and build the plan for the new report.
Tasks
How do Tasks keep the work on track?
The Tasks page turns the plan into a working list, with filters by status, type and source, and bulk actions to mark done, archive, restore or delete.
| Field | Options |
|---|---|
| Type | Write article, Refresh page, Add FAQ, Add schema, Comparison page, Glossary, Use case page. |
| Status | To do, In progress, Done, Dismissed, Snoozed. Snoozed tasks come back after 7 days by default. |
| Priority | Low, Medium, High, Critical. |
| Source | Where the task came from, such as an AI visibility gap, the AI Readiness audit, or a task you added yourself. |
| Detail | Content tasks open in Content Studio. Other tasks show why the task matters, the recommended outcome, an execution checklist and notes. |
After each plan is built, up to three quick wins are added to Tasks automatically.
Checklist
What does a GEO checklist include?
Your plan is built from your own data, but most plans draw on the same kinds of moves.
- Let AI search crawlers in through robots.txt.
- Serve key content in HTML that loads without JavaScript.
- Add Organization and Product schema that identify your brand.
- Lead pages with a direct answer and use question-style headings.
- Add FAQ sections with matching schema.
- Publish comparison pages for the rivals AI names beside you.
- Write pages for open questions no brand owns.
- Get listed and reviewed on the sites AI cites for your category.
- Show authors and visible update dates.
- Keep prices, plans and features consistent across the web.
Timing
How long does it take to improve AI visibility?
There is no fixed date, and each step moves at its own speed. Site fixes are quick to ship but only count once crawlers come back. New pages have to be found and trusted. Answers that rivals own move slowest, because the sources behind them have to change.
Rankry measures progress at the rhythm of your reports, daily by default, with 3-day and 7-day options. Each report updates “Where you stand”, each prompt keeps every run in its history, and the metric history panels show the trend for visibility, position and the rest over the period your plan keeps.
Judge a move by the prompts it targets. If a card said it takes back five questions, open those prompts after a few reports and check who is named now.

How is the action plan made?
Rankry builds it from your latest report when you press “Build the plan”. Step 2 comes straight from your report data: the prompts that qualify as open questions. Steps 1 and 3 come from an analysis of your report, your AI Readiness findings and the rivals AI names instead of you.
What should I fix first for GEO?
Anything that stops AI engines from reading your site: blocked crawlers, content that only appears with JavaScript, missing basic structure. That is why “Fix your website” is step 1. If your site is readable, the plan says so and you can go straight to open questions.
Should I focus on my site, third-party sources or content first?
Your site first, because it holds back everything else. Then content for open questions, where a good page can win without beating anyone. Then the third-party sources and competitor moves that take answers rivals already own.
Does the plan update automatically?
Each plan belongs to a report. When a new report is ready, open Action plan and build the plan for it. Tasks you added stay on the Tasks page with their status.
Are the open questions in step 2 chosen by AI?
No. They are calculated from your report with fixed rules: you are named in 40% of answers or fewer, AI cites many sources, and no tracked competitor holds the answer.
What does “Not tracked” mean in step 3?
The rival wins answers in your report but isn’t one of your tracked competitors. You can add it from a prompt with “Add to competitors” or in Settings, and your competitor figures recompute right away from stored answers.
Is the action plan on every plan?
Action plans are included in Base and Pro, with where you stand, three steps to improve, step-by-step guidance and a goal on each card.
How do I measure whether a GEO task worked?
Look at the prompts the task targeted. Open them after the next few reports and check whether you are named, at what position, and whether your page appears among the sources. “Where you stand” and the metric history show the overall trend.
Can Rankry Brain tell me what to fix first?
Yes. Ask Rankry Brain “What should I fix first?” and it answers from your data, showing which tools it checked. It only reads and answers, so you add the tasks yourself.
Are tasks created automatically?
Some are. After a plan is built, up to three quick wins are added to Tasks. Everything else you add yourself: with “Add to Tasks” on a card, the “Write” button on an open question, or a new task.
