Sample data
In short
Meta Muse rank tracking is measuring how often Meta Muse, Meta’s assistant, names your brand when people ask it for recommendations, and in what position. Rankry asks Muse your prompts through Meta’s official API with web search on, stores the full answer for every run, and reports visibility, position, sentiment, the links Muse cites and the competitors it names instead of you.
What it means
What does Meta Muse brand visibility mean?
Meta Muse visibility is several measurements, not one. Each answers a different question about how a buyer who asks Muse for a recommendation hears about you.
Mention
Your brand is named in the Meta Muse answer. Visibility is the share of Meta Muse answers to your prompts that name you.
Position
Where you sit among the brands Meta Muse names, in the order the answer ranks or presents them. #1 is the first brand named.
Source
A web page the answer draws on or links to. Your site can be a source while Meta Muse recommends someone else, and you can be named without being cited.
Sentiment
The tone of each answer about you, labelled Positive, Neutral or Negative from the specific claims Meta Muse makes about your brand.
Share of voice
Your mentions as a share of all mentions of you and the competitors you track. It shows who Meta Muse names most among your rivals.
Who wins the prompt
The brands Meta Muse names instead of you, how often and in what position. Any of them can become a tracked competitor in one click.
Why Meta Muse is different
What shapes Meta Muse answers in Rankry?
How Rankry asks Muse decides what you can read from its answers. These are the parts of the setup worth knowing before you compare Muse with the other engines.
Asked through Meta’s official API
Each prompt goes to Muse through Meta’s API as a fresh request, with no account, memory or chat history, so every run asks the same question the same way.
Search is on, not forced
Muse has web search and decides whether to use it. An answer given without a search has no sources, so some Muse answers carry citations and some do not.
Sources are the links it cites
Rankry stores the links Muse cites in its answer as sources. Pages its search read without citing them are not counted as sources.
Muse visibility is its own number
A different model and different search can produce a different shortlist. A brand ChatGPT names first can be missing from Muse for the same prompt, which is why Rankry keeps every engine separate.
What Rankry tracks

Metrics
Which Meta Muse visibility metrics does Rankry report?
These are the numbers in the product, how each is calculated and what it tells you. Every one can be read for Meta Muse alone or next to the other eight engines.
| Metric | What it means | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Visibility | Share of Meta Muse answers to your prompts that name your brand. Each answer counts once, whatever your position in it. | Your baseline. If the engine rarely names you, work on coverage before position or tone. |
| Position | Your average rank in Meta Muse answers that name you. Lower is better: #1 means you are named first. | People read answers top-down. Being the fifth of six brands rarely wins the click. |
| Share of voice | Your mentions divided by the mentions of you plus your tracked competitors. The Compete page can split it by engine. | Shows whether you are gaining or losing ground against the specific brands you compete with. |
| Sentiment | Share of answers naming you whose claims about you read mostly positive. Every answer also gets a Positive, Neutral or Negative chip. | A mention that comes with a caveat or an outdated fact can cost more than it earns. |
| Diversity | How many of the engines you run name you at least once, out of all engines run. | Tells you whether Meta Muse is one of the engines you are missing from, or one you already win. |
| Sources | The domains Meta Muse answers cite in your current report, typed You, Competitor, Review, Forum, Reference or Editorial, with status Yours, Gap or Mixed. | Gap sources cite competitors and not you: a concrete list of places to earn a mention. |
| Head-to-head | Your win rate against one tracked competitor on the prompts where you both appear, judged by average position. | Tells you which rival to work on first, and on which prompts they beat you. |
Monitoring over time
Can you monitor Meta Muse answers over time?
Yes. A single check tells you what Muse said once. Monitoring shows what changed, when, and whether your fixes worked.
Daily, 3-day or 7-day monitoring
Reports refresh automatically every day, or every 3 or 7 days if you choose, and the dashboard shows the last update and the next scan.
Every run is kept
Prompt history keeps each run for your plan’s history window, 90 days by default, with your place in each Muse answer and the full answer one click away.
Who it names instead
“Who wins this prompt” lists the brands Muse named for each prompt, their share of answers and their position, with a one-click toggle to track any of them as a competitor.
Competitor changes need no re-run
Add or remove a competitor and every figure, past runs included, recalculates instantly from the stored answers.
Methodology
How does Rankry measure Meta Muse visibility?
Through Meta’s official API, not the Muse app. Here is how each Meta Muse number is produced.
- 01
Prompt sent through Meta’s API
Each prompt goes to Muse through Meta’s official API as the user message, exactly as written. No account, no history and no connected apps.
- 02
Web search on
Muse has web search, limited to one search per answer, and decides whether to use it.
- 03
Location for the search
For projects with a location, the country, state and city are passed to the search as an approximate location. Global projects send none.
- 04
One answer per prompt per run
Each prompt is asked once on each run. The trend comes from comparing runs over time.
- 05
Brands and cited links read
A separate model lists the brands Muse named in the order it ranked them, with its reasons. The links Muse cites in its answer are stored as sources.
- 06
Sentiment and full answer stored
Each answer is labelled Positive, Neutral or Negative from the claims it makes about you, and the full answer is stored for every run.

Prompts to monitor
Which prompts should I track in Meta Muse?
Track the questions buyers ask before choosing, in the words they would use. Here is a set for our example brand UGC Planner, a deal tracker for UGC creators. Rankry writes a set like this from your site at onboarding, and you can add your own or import a CSV.
- 01What’s the best app for UGC creators to manage brand deals?
- 02How do I keep track of UGC deadlines across 10 brands?
- 03Is a spreadsheet enough to manage UGC contracts and payments?
- 04Good alternatives to Notion for UGC creators

How to improve
How do I get named in Meta Muse?
Make your pages easy to find and quote, keep your positioning clear, and earn mentions on the sites Muse cites. Then close the gaps Rankry surfaces.
- 01
Fix what stops AI from reading you
Run Rankry’s AI Readiness audit: 36 checks across crawl access, rendering, structured identity, content architecture, citation readiness and freshness, graded A to F. Content that only appears after JavaScript runs is hard for many AI crawlers to read.
- 02
Be easy to find on the open web
Muse’s tracked answers come from its web search, so the pages it can cite are public pages that crawlers can reach. Keep key pages public and server-rendered, and do not block general search crawlers in robots.txt.
- 03
Say clearly what you do and for whom
Give each product and use case a page that states the category, the audience and the main alternatives in plain words. Answers repeat what they can find and confirm.
- 04
Publish comparison and alternatives pages
Fair “X vs Y” and “alternatives to X” pages match the way buyers ask, and give the engine a source for exactly those prompts.
- 05
Earn mentions where the engine looks
Filter the Sources page to Meta Muse and turn on “Gap analysis only”. The review sites, forums and articles listed there cite competitors and not you.
- 06
Answer the question in the first lines
Lead with a direct answer, then the detail. Short definitions, FAQs and tables are easier to quote than long narrative.
- 07
Keep key pages current
Show a visible update date and refresh pages when prices or features change. Outdated facts on your own site tend to reappear in answers.
- 08
Work through the Action plan
Rankry orders the work in three steps: Fix your website, Win open questions, Beat your competitors. Add actions to Tasks, and draft pages for open questions in Content Studio.

Can you track brand mentions in Meta Muse?
Yes. Rankry asks Meta Muse your prompts through Meta’s official API with web search on, and for every answer records whether your brand is named, your position, the sentiment, the links Muse cited and the competitors it named. Reports re-run automatically every day, or every 3 or 7 days if you choose, every run is kept in prompt history, and the full answer is stored.
Which plans include Meta Muse?
Meta Muse is an add-on on both plans: $50 a month on Base or $100 a month on Pro. It covers every prompt in your license.
Does Rankry use the Muse app?
No. Rankry asks through Meta’s official API, with no account, memory, chat history or connected apps, so every run asks the same question the same way and you can compare runs over time.
Which sources does Meta Muse cite?
Rankry stores the links Muse cites in its answer. An answer given without a search has no sources. Filter the Sources page to Meta Muse to see the domains it cited in your current report, and which of them cite competitors and not you.
Can I see who Meta Muse recommends instead of me?
Yes. Each prompt’s “Who wins this prompt” panel lists the brands Muse named, their share of answers and their position when named. You can add any of them to your competitors in one click, and all figures recalculate instantly from stored answers.
Does Rankry show the full Meta Muse answer?
Yes. The prompt panel shows “Full answer”, Muse’s verbatim reply, next to the brands as Muse ranked them, its reasons and the links it cited.
How often does Rankry check Meta Muse?
Reports re-run automatically every day, or every 3 or 7 days if you choose, and the dashboard shows when the next scan is due.
Is Meta Muse visibility different from ChatGPT visibility?
It can be. Each engine uses its own model and its own search, so the same prompt can name you in ChatGPT and skip you in Muse. Rankry keeps every engine separate, and the Model comparison table shows your visibility, position and sentiment for each side by side.
