Sample data

In short

A full AI answer is the complete reply an AI engine gave to a prompt, not just a snippet or a yes-or-no mention. Rankry keeps the full answer for every new run on all nine AI engines it tracks, alongside the brands the engine ranked and the sources it cited, so you can read how each engine describes you and your competitors in its own words.

One answer, opened up

What can I see in each AI answer?

Open a prompt on the Prompts page, pick a run, and each engine’s answer opens with these parts.

Mentioned or not

A clear verdict for the run: “Mentioned · #2” with your rank, or “Not mentioned”.

Brands, as the model ranked them

Every brand in the answer, in the order the engine put them, each with the reason the engine gave and the sources tied to it.

Sources

The pages the engine cited or consulted when it searched the web, with a count on the answer card.

A sentiment chip

Positive, Neutral or Negative, worked out from labeled claims the answer makes about your brand.

The full answer

The reply word for word, as the engine returned it. This is where you see tone, caveats, comparisons and outdated details that a rank alone hides.

Capture details for Google

AI Overviews and AI Mode answers carry a line such as “Captured Oct 19 · United States · English · Desktop”, so you know which search produced them.

Nine AI engines

Which AI answers does Rankry capture, and how?

Rankry tracks nine AI engines. Six are chat engines asked through their own APIs with web search; two are Google surfaces captured from Google’s live results; Copilot uses Azure GPT with Bing web search through Microsoft’s official API. Google surfaces are included on Pro and available as paid add-ons on Base; Claude, Grok, Meta Muse and Copilot are paid add-ons on Base and Pro.

EngineHow the answer is collectedSources kept with it
ChatGPTAsked through OpenAI’s API, with web search allowedThe search results it consulted and the links it cited
ClaudeAsked through Anthropic’s API, with web search allowedInline citations and web search results
GeminiAsked through Google’s Gemini API, grounded in Google SearchThe pages its answer was grounded in
PerplexityAsked through Perplexity’s APIThe search results returned with the answer
GrokAsked through xAI’s API, with web search allowedInline citations only
Meta MuseAsked through Meta’s official API, with web search allowedThe links cited in the answer
Google AI OverviewsCaptured from Google’s live results for the promptThe references inside the overview
Google AI ModeCaptured from Google’s live AI Mode results for the promptThe references inside the answer

Chat engines decide for themselves whether to search. An answer given without a search has no sources, but its full text is still kept.

Dates that matter

When did Rankry start storing full answers?

Rankry stores the full answer for every new run. Complete AI Overviews answers have been kept since October 4, 2026, and AI Mode answers since its first run on October 8, 2026. For ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok, they have been kept since October 22, 2026, and Meta Muse and Copilot answers have been kept in full from their first run.

Runs from before those dates are not empty. They still hold the brands each engine named, the order it ranked them in, the reason it gave for each, and the sources it cited. Their “Full answer” section says “Not stored for this run”, because the reply itself was not saved word for word at the time.

From those dates on, nothing extra is needed on your side. Every scheduled run, and every first run of a newly added prompt, saves the reply automatically and keeps it for as long as your plan’s history allows.

Answers move

Why do AI answers change between runs?

Each run asks each engine once, so a difference between two runs is a real difference in what the engine said. These are the usual reasons it happens.

The web results changed

Most answers lean on a live web search. When new pages rank or old ones drop, the sources change, and the answer follows.

Models vary by design

AI models don’t return the same text every time. Asked the same question twice, an engine can pick different brands or list them in a different order.

Models get updated

Providers update their models and search systems, often without notice. A new version can favor different sources or write shorter lists.

Google changed what it shows

AI Overviews appear for some searches and not others, and that set shifts over time. When Google shows no AI Overview, Rankry records zero visibility for that answer.

Location shapes the answer

Rankry passes your project’s location to each engine, so answers match your market. The same question asked from another country can get a different answer.

Your market moved

New reviews, articles and competitor launches change what the engines find. This is the change worth watching, and full answers show it in context.

From reading to fixing

How do I use full AI answers to improve my visibility?

Reading answers is useful only if it changes what you do next. This is a simple loop that works for most teams.

  1. 01

    Find the prompts you lose

On the Prompts page, look for prompts where engines say “Not mentioned”, or where a competitor holds the top spot.

  2. 02

Read what the winner gets credit for

Open the full answer and note the reasons the engine gives for the brands above you: features, pricing, reviews, use cases.

  3. 03

    Check the sources behind it

Look at the sources tied to each brand. These are the pages to improve, pitch or answer with your own content.

  4. 04

Correct what is wrong or missing

If an answer describes you with outdated facts, fix them on your site and, where you can, on the sources the engine cites.

  5. 05

    Write for the gap

Use the Action plan and Content Studio to draft a page that answers the question directly, with the facts the engines were looking for.

  6. 06

    Watch the next runs

Every new run keeps the full answer, so you can see whether the wording about you changes, not only your rank.

Practical uses

What are full AI answers useful for?

A rank tells you where you stand. The answer tells you why. Teams use full answers for jobs like these.

  • Spotting wrong prices, features or descriptions of your product
  • Seeing which competitor gets recommended for which use case
  • Finding the caveats an engine attaches to your brand
  • Comparing how Google AI Mode and ChatGPT frame the same question
  • Collecting real wording for content briefs and FAQs
  • Showing stakeholders exactly what AI said, not a summary
  • Checking whether a new page changed how you are described
  • Reading what an AI Overview says before anyone clicks
  • Understanding why a sentiment chip reads Negative

Questions

Full AI answer questions

Something missing? [email protected]

Can I see the full answer ChatGPT gave for my prompt?

Yes. For every run since October 22, 2026, Rankry keeps ChatGPT’s complete reply to each tracked prompt. Open the prompt on the Prompts page, pick a run and expand the ChatGPT answer to read it word for word, next to the brands it ranked and the sources it used.

What does Google AI Mode say about my brand?

On Pro, Rankry asks AI Mode each tracked prompt on every run and keeps the complete answer, with the brands it named, their order and the references it used. Open the prompt, pick a run and read the AI Mode answer in full, with the date, location, language and device it was captured with.

Can I read the full AI Overview text, not just the citations?

Yes. On Pro, Rankry keeps the full AI Overview text for every run since October 4, 2026, along with the references inside it. When Google shows no AI Overview for a search, there is no text to keep, and Rankry records zero visibility for that answer.

Are the answers captured from the real ChatGPT app?

No. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and Meta Muse are asked through their official APIs with web search allowed, one answer per prompt per run, with no chat history. Google AI Overviews and AI Mode are captured from Google’s live results, and Copilot uses Azure GPT with Bing web search through Microsoft’s official API. Answers in a personal, logged-in account can differ, because those apps may use memory and past conversations.

Can I compare answers from different engines for the same prompt?

Yes. Each run lists every engine the prompt ran on, so you can open the ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Mode answers to the same question from the same run one after another. The run grid shows at a glance which engines named you and at what rank.

Why does an older run say “Not stored for this run”?

Full replies have been stored since October 4, 2026 for AI Overviews, since October 8, 2026 for AI Mode and since October 22, 2026 for the chat engines. Earlier runs keep the brands each engine named, their order, the reasons it gave and the sources it cited, but not the reply word for word.

Why does an answer have no sources?

Chat engines decide for themselves whether to search the web. When one answers from what it already knows, there are no sources to show. Grok returns only the links it cites inline, so its source lists are often shorter than other engines’.

Can I see the searches AI ran before answering?

Not today. Rankry keeps the answer and the sources the engine cited or consulted, but not the search queries it typed before writing the answer.

In which location and language are Google answers captured?

Google surfaces are captured on desktop for your project’s country, or state and country where that is known. Language follows the country in 12 markets, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Brazil and Japan, and is English elsewhere. Global projects use the United States. Google’s AI surfaces are not available for projects in Belarus, Iran or Russia.

Does reading full answers use requests?

No. Answers are stored when a prompt is asked, and that is the only time a request is spent: one per prompt, per engine, per run. Opening and reading them costs nothing.
