Sample data

In short

The Google Search Console integration is a read-only connection between your Search Console property and Rankry, the AI search optimization platform. After one Google sign-in, Rankry shows search performance, URL inspection and sitemaps inside your project, and turns searches you already get impressions for into prompt ideas on the Opportunities page. It cannot request indexing or change anything in Search Console.

Three tabs

What does the Search Console integration show in Rankry?

The integration opens as three tabs inside your project: “Search Performance”, “URL Inspection” and “Sitemaps”. They read the same data you would see in Search Console, beside your AI visibility work.

Search Performance

Total clicks, total impressions, average CTR and average position, with a trend chart. Group by queries, pages, countries, devices or dates; pick 24 hours, 7 days, 28 days, 3 months or a custom range; switch between Web, Image, Video and News.

URL Inspection

Paste up to 25 URLs, one per line. For each one, see whether the URL is on Google, how Google discovered it, when it was last crawled, which canonical Google chose, and its mobile usability and rich results status.

Sitemaps

Every sitemap Google knows about, with type, submitted and last processed dates, status, and discovered pages and videos. An “Indexing” card compares pages in your sitemaps with pages shown in Google search over the last 28 days.

Connect

How do I connect Search Console to Rankry?

You don’t need a Google Cloud project or credentials of your own. Rankry uses its own Google sign-in, and you only grant read-only access to Search Console.

  1. 01

    Open the integration

In your project, go to Integrations and open Google Search Console. The card reads “Connect Google Search Console”.

  2. 02

    Sign in with Google

A popup opens Google’s consent screen. Choose the Google account that has access to your property and allow read-only access. Rankry never sees your password.

  3. 03

    Confirm the property

Rankry matches your project’s domain against your Search Console properties automatically. If nothing matches, it asks you to “Choose a property”. Domain properties (sc-domain:) and URL-prefix properties both work.

  4. 04

    Read your data

Search Performance opens first, with URL Inspection and Sitemaps next to it. The integration also pins itself under “Integrations” in the sidebar.

  5. 05

    Switch property later

Picked the wrong property, or moved the site? Choose another one from the site row at the top of the integration, without disconnecting Google. Rankry reloads the data for the property you chose.

  6. 06

    Disconnect at any time

Disconnecting in Rankry revokes the Google grant. You can also remove Rankry’s access from your Google account’s security settings.

Where the data goes

What does Search Console data feed in Rankry?

Search Console data shows up in a few specific places. It is kept apart from your AI visibility metrics, so your scores always describe what AI engines said.

AI Overviews and AI Mode

Does Google Search Console show AI Overviews and AI Mode data?

Partly. Google counts appearances in its AI features within Search Console’s performance data for Web search, so a page linked from an AI Overview or an AI Mode answer can show up as impressions and clicks for the query. Rankry shows Search Console totals as Google reports them and doesn’t split AI Overviews or AI Mode out of them.

What Search Console doesn’t show is the answer itself: which brands Google’s AI named, in what order, whether it recommended you, and which sources it cited. That is the part Rankry tracks. On Pro, Rankry captures Google AI Overviews and AI Mode answers for your prompts, next to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok, Meta Muse and Copilot, and keeps the full answer for every new run.

Put the two side by side and you get a practical loop: find a query with impressions in Search Console, add it as a prompt in Rankry, and see whether AI Overviews, AI Mode and the chat engines name you when someone asks it.

From searches to prompts

How do Search Console queries become AI prompts?

The Opportunities page has a “Search Console” block: “Google searches you show up for, not tracked yet.” It is the shortest path from Google demand to AI tracking.

What it lists

Queries from the last 28 days, ending two days ago because Google’s daily data lags. Up to 1,000 of them, sorted by impressions, with any query you already track as a prompt taken out.

What each row shows

The search and its impressions. Clicks, CTR and position stay in the Search Performance tab, where you can filter by the same query.

Which ones to pick

Questions and comparisons, such as “best…”, “… vs …”, “how to…” or “… for small teams”, are the searches people also put to AI assistants. They make the strongest prompts.

How to track one

Add it on the Prompts page with “Add prompts”, choose a category and the engines, and it is answered right away. After that it runs with every scheduled report.

Limits

What can’t the Search Console integration do?

Access is read-only on Google’s side, so some things are impossible by design. Others simply aren’t built.

  • Request indexing: Google doesn’t allow it through its API for ordinary pages, so the old button was removed
  • Submit, resubmit or delete sitemaps
  • Change settings, users or properties in Search Console
  • Show Discover data (Web, Image, Video and News only)
  • Run scheduled URL inspections; you choose when to inspect
  • Feed your AI visibility scores, reports or Action plan
  • Split AI Overviews or AI Mode out of Search Console totals

Security

Is my Search Console data safe with Rankry?

Rankry requests one Google permission, read-only access to Search Console (webmasters.readonly). The connect card says it plainly: “Sign in with Google and allow Rankry to read your Search Console data. Rankry never sees your password, asks for read-only access, and you can revoke it at any time from your Google account.”

Rankry stores the property you selected and encrypted OAuth credentials. It reads Search Console data to show it to you and does not keep the analytics responses as report records. Its privacy policy states that Rankry does not sell Google user data, does not use Search Console data for advertising, and does not use it to train generalized AI models.

If you ask Rankry Brain or an MCP client for Search Console data, the answer goes to the assistant you chose. Rankry doesn’t start that transfer without your action.

Questions

Search Console integration questions

Something missing? [email protected]

Is the Search Console integration read-only?

Yes. The only permission Rankry requests is Google’s read-only Search Console scope. Rankry can read performance data, inspect URLs and list sitemaps. It cannot request indexing, submit or delete sitemaps, add users or change any setting in Search Console.

Do I need my own Google Cloud credentials?

No. Rankry connects through its own Google sign-in, so you click connect, choose your Google account and allow read-only access. The option to bring your own Google Cloud credentials was removed when one-click sign-in arrived.

Which plans include the Search Console integration?

It is available on plans that include it. If your plan doesn’t, Rankry says the integration isn’t included instead of showing data. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.

Can I connect a domain property?

Yes. Rankry accepts both domain properties, written as sc-domain:example.com, and URL-prefix properties such as https://example.com/. It matches your project’s domain to one of them automatically and asks you to choose when nothing matches.

Can I change the property after connecting?

Yes. Pick another property from the site row at the top of the integration. You don’t need to disconnect Google, and Rankry reloads the Search Performance data for the property you chose so nothing from the old one lingers.

Can Rankry request indexing for my pages?

No. Google doesn’t allow indexing requests through its API for ordinary pages, so Rankry removed its old Request Indexing button. Use URL Inspection in Rankry to find pages that aren’t on Google, then request indexing in Google Search Console itself.

Does Search Console data change my AI visibility score?

No. Visibility, Position, Share of voice, Sentiment and the Rankry Score come only from AI answers to your tracked prompts. Search Console data is shown in its own tabs, on the Opportunities page, in Rankry Brain and through the MCP server.

Does Rankry show AI Overviews clicks separately?

No. Google includes AI feature appearances in its Web search totals, and Rankry shows those totals as Google reports them. To see whether AI Overviews or AI Mode actually name your brand, track the query as a prompt on Pro or with the relevant Google engine added to Base.

Can Rankry Brain answer questions about my Search Console data?

Yes, once Search Console is connected. Ask “How is my organic search traffic doing?” or “Is my site indexed on Google?” and Brain reads your performance, URL inspection and sitemap data, shows which tools it used, and answers with the numbers.
