In short
Monitoring frequency is how often an AI visibility tool asks your tracked prompts again. Rankry refreshes reports automatically every day by default, with the option to check every 3 or 7 days. New prompts get their first answers immediately, failed answers are retried, and each completed run adds to your history. Daily monitoring helps you notice changes sooner; longer intervals use fewer requests.
How Rankry schedules runs
How often does Rankry check AI visibility?
Runs happen per project. This is what starts a run.
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Scheduled run | Reports refresh automatically every day by default. You can choose every 3 or 7 days instead, and the next scan is shown in your project. |
| New prompt added | Answered right away on every engine you picked, without waiting for the next scheduled run. |
| Failed answer | Retried automatically, up to three times for each prompt and engine. Each prompt row also offers “Retry failed answers” for anything left over. Failed answers don’t use requests. |
| Request budget | A scheduled run starts only when your monthly request pool can cover all of it, so it never stops halfway for lack of requests. The sidebar shows requests used and left. |
| Monitoring intervals | Choose daily, every 3 days or every 7 days to match how closely you want to follow changes. |
The project header shows “Last update” and “Next scan”, and its tooltip gives the interval your project runs on.
What you are measuring
Why do AI answers vary from one check to the next?
Before you choose a cadence, it helps to know what moves. An AI answer is not a fixed list like a page of search results. These are the main sources of change, from fastest to slowest.
Sampling
Language models choose their words with some randomness. Ask the same question twice and the brands, their order and the wording can differ, even when nothing else has changed.
Live web search
Most engines search the web before they answer. As pages are published, updated or re-ranked, the sources change and the answer follows.
Model and system updates
Providers change their models, search partners and answer formats. These shifts are sudden and tend to touch many prompts at once.
Google’s own changes
AI Overviews appear for some searches and not others, and that set shifts over time. When none appears, Rankry records zero visibility for that answer.
Location
Answers depend on where a question comes from. Rankry asks from your project’s market every time, so one run compares fairly with the next.
Your own work
New pages, reviews and mentions take time to be found and used. This is the change you actually want to measure, and it moves slowest of all.
Daily or weekly
Is daily AI visibility tracking worth it?
Daily tracking gives you a new observation each day, so you can spot changes after a launch, a new article or a competitor move. Rankry uses it by default. One answer is still one sample: compare several runs and a broad set of prompts before treating a change as a trend.
Request usage grows with monitoring frequency. One request is one prompt asked to one engine. Fifty prompts on five engines use 250 requests per run. Over 30 days, daily monitoring uses 7,500 requests; every 3 days uses about 2,500; every 7 days uses about 1,000 to 1,250, depending on the scan dates. Choose an interval your monthly request pool can support.
Daily monitoring is useful during a launch, a rebrand, a pricing change or a period of active optimization. Every 3 days is a middle ground for steady work, while every 7 days suits a lighter monitoring routine. Whichever interval you choose, keep the prompts and engines comparable and look for a pattern across several runs.
A cadence guide
What tracking cadence fits which goal?
Start with daily monitoring, then choose every 3 or 7 days if a slower cadence fits your work. New prompts receive their first answers immediately, regardless of the recurring interval.
| Goal | Suggested cadence | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Benchmark your brand in AI search | Daily | Build a day-by-day baseline, then compare trends over a longer period. |
| Measure the effect of new content | Every 7 days, read over 4–8 weeks | Engines find and use new pages gradually. Compare the runs before and after you publish. |
| Launch, rebrand or pricing change | Every day for the first weeks | You want to see quickly whether engines pick up the new facts. In Rankry, add new prompts on the launch topic: they are answered right away. |
| Fast-moving or news-driven category | Every 3 days | A 3-day interval balances freshness and request usage. Keep daily monitoring when changes need a faster response. |
| Long-tail and research questions | Every 7 days | These rarely move. Tracking more of them matters more than tracking them often. |
| Reporting to a team or client | Match your reporting rhythm | Review the daily data once a week, or choose a 7-day monitoring interval for a lighter routine. Use 30-day and 90-day views for summaries. |
Set up monitoring
How do I set up AI visibility monitoring in Rankry?
Monitoring in Rankry needs no scheduling on your side. These steps get you a steady, useful history.
- 01
Start with a broad prompt set
Rankry writes prompts from your site at onboarding, spread across the stages of a buyer’s decision. Every project keeps at least ten running.
- 02
Add the prompts that matter now
New prompts are answered on every engine you pick as soon as you add them, so a launch topic gets its first read right away.
- 03
Check the cost first
The Add prompts window shows the requests for the first run, prompts × models, and how many you have available.
- 04
Let the schedule build history
Each scheduled run adds a point to prompt history. Daily monitoring gives you about 30 runs in a month; 3-day monitoring about ten; weekly monitoring four or five.
- 05
Read periods, not single runs
Use the 30-day or 90-day view on the dashboard. Metrics there combine every answer in the period.
- 06
Retry what failed
If an engine had an outage, failed answers are retried automatically. Use “Retry failed answers” for anything left.
Reliable trends
How many runs do you need for a reliable trend?
There is no magic number, but the logic is simple. Most metrics in Rankry are shares of answers: how many prompt-and-engine answers named you, out of all of them. The more answers behind a number, the less one odd answer can move it.
A project with 50 prompts on five engines produces 250 answers per run. Over 30 days, daily monitoring can collect about 7,500 answers; a 3-day interval about 2,500; weekly monitoring about 1,000 to 1,250. A change that persists across several runs and engines is stronger evidence than one isolated result, although it still needs to be read in context.
If your numbers look jumpy, track more prompts before you think about tracking more often. Breadth lowers the noise, and it also tells you more about your market.

Related features
How often does Rankry update AI visibility data?
Reports refresh automatically every day by default. Choose every 3 or 7 days if you prefer a longer interval. The project header shows the last update and the next scan, and new prompts are answered immediately.
Does Rankry track AI visibility daily?
Yes. Reports refresh automatically every day by default. You can also choose every 3 or 7 days. Every completed run is kept in prompt history, within your plan’s retention window.
Can I run a report on demand?
Reports refresh automatically at the interval you choose: daily, every 3 days or every 7 days. New prompts are answered immediately on the engines you pick, and failed answers can be retried.
Can I choose a different monitoring frequency?
Yes. Daily is the default, and you can choose every 3 or 7 days to match your goals and available requests. Compare trends using the same prompt text and engines so the results stay useful.
Does tracking more often cost more?
Yes, in requests. One request is one prompt asked to one engine, and every run spends prompts × engines requests from your monthly pool. Checking daily uses about seven times the requests of checking weekly over a longer period. Failed answers and sentiment scoring don’t use requests.
What happens if an AI engine fails to answer?
Rankry retries the answer automatically, up to three times for each prompt and engine. Anything still missing can be retried from the prompt row with “Retry failed answers”. Failed answers are not charged to your request pool.
What if my request pool runs low?
A scheduled run starts only when the pool can cover all of it. If it can’t yet, the run waits rather than stopping halfway. The sidebar shows requests used, requests left and when the pool resets. The pool is shared by all projects on your account over a rolling 30-day window.
Why did my visibility change when I didn’t change anything?
AI answers vary on their own. Models sample their wording, web search results shift, providers update their models, and Google changes when it shows AI Overviews. Look at the trend over several runs and across engines before you react to a single change.
How often are AI Volume and search volume refreshed?
Both refresh every 30 days, and also when prompts are generated, imported or edited. They follow their own cycle, separate from the run schedule.
