Sample data

In short

What people ask AI helps you discover questions about your brand and tracked competitors that deserve a place in your tracking. Compare questions where rivals appear without you, use AI Volume to prioritise them, and add the ones that matter. Your own buyer questions and Search Console searches can help expand that list.

Find the gaps

Which questions are missing from your tracking?

Your current prompts cover the questions you already track. “What people ask AI” helps you find more questions about your brand and tracked competitors, including the ones where rivals appear without you.

Compare the suggested questions by AI Volume, an estimate of demand. Pick questions that matter to your buyers and add them to tracking, then see how the engines you choose answer them.

You can also add questions from sales conversations, support tickets and your Search Console data. Together, these give you a broader view of the questions your AI visibility work should cover.

Branded prompts

How do I monitor branded prompts in AI?

Rankry writes your first prompts from your site, and on purpose they never name your brand: they test whether AI brings you up on its own. Branded questions are the ones you add yourself.

  1. 01

List what buyers ask about you

Reviews (“is UGC Planner worth it”), pricing (“UGC Planner pricing”), comparisons (“UGC Planner vs Notion”), alternatives (“alternatives to UGC Planner”) and fit (“is UGC Planner good for beginners”).

  2. 02

    Add them as prompts

On the Prompts page, open “Add prompts”, paste them one per line or import a CSV, put them in their own category, and pick the engines to ask.

  3. 03

    Read the first answers

New prompts are answered right away. Open each one to see whether you are mentioned, at what position, with a sentiment chip and the full answer.

  4. 04

    Check the brands beside you

“Who wins this prompt” lists every brand named. On a comparison or alternatives prompt, that is the short list buyers see.

  5. 05

    Check the sources

Each answer lists the sources it used. If AI repeats an old price or a missing feature, the sources often show where it came from.

  6. 06

    Keep them running

Branded prompts re-run with your reports, daily by default, with 3-day and 7-day options, and every run is kept in the prompt’s history.

Real queries

How do I see the real questions AI users ask before visiting my site?

Some AI engines pass the question along when a user clicks a link. Rankry’s AI Traffic dashboard, available on Pro, reads it. Add a small script to your site (async, under 5 KB, no cookies) and the “User queries” panel lists real prompts from Perplexity visitors, next to the pages they landed on.

This is the closest thing to a direct view of what people ask AI before they reach you, but it is partial. Visits from ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini arrive without the question, so Rankry counts those visits and their landing pages but can’t show what was asked. Treat Perplexity queries as a sample of real wording, and turn the good ones into tracked prompts.

AI Traffic collects data only while your plan includes it, so install the script as soon as you are on Pro if you want the history.

Search Console

What can Google Search Console tell me about AI questions?

Search Console shows the Google searches your site appeared for. Many of them are the same questions people ask AI assistants, and the long, question-shaped ones are often the closest match to how people write prompts.

Connect Search Console to Rankry with read-only access and you get two views. The Search Performance tab lists queries with clicks, impressions, CTR and position, with filters for query, page, country and device. The Opportunities page lists the searches you appeared for in the last 28 days that you don’t yet track as prompts, sorted by impressions.

A free tip that works in Google Search Console itself: in the Performance report, add a query filter set to “Custom (regex)” and use ^(what|which|how|why|is|are|can|does|should|best)\b to list question-style searches, or ([^ ]+ ){7,} to list searches of eight words or more. Add your brand name as a second filter to see the questions people ask about you.

Rankry Brain

How do I explore what AI says about me with Rankry Brain?

Rankry Brain is the assistant inside the app. It reads your Rankry data with read-only tools and answers with numbers, so you can explore without building a report.

Ask in plain words

Try “How is my brand doing in AI search?”, “Where am I losing to competitors?” or “What content should I write next?”.

See what it checked

Each answer shows the tools it used, such as visibility, top prompts, sources or Search Console data, so you can verify the numbers.

Get a chart

Ask “Show my visibility trend as a chart” and it draws one from your history.

Then act yourself

Brain reads and answers; it doesn’t change anything. Add the prompts or tasks it suggests on the Prompts and Tasks pages.

Next steps

How do I use the suggested questions?

Open “What people ask AI” on the Opportunities page. Switch between “Competitors only” and “Mentions you”, compare the questions and their estimated AI Volume, and choose the ones worth tracking.

Click Add to prompts, choose the engines and confirm. Rankry saves the question as a tracked prompt. Once it is tracked, read the answers and use them to decide what to write or improve.

Corrections

What should I do if AI gets facts about my brand wrong?

Wrong prices, old features and mixed-up competitors usually trace back to a page AI read. Work from the source.

  • Open the prompt and read the full answer to find the exact claim.
  • Check the answer’s sources to see which page it likely came from.
  • Fix the fact on your own site first: pricing, features, plans and FAQ pages.
  • Put a short, dated summary of key facts near the top of those pages.
  • Update your profiles on the review sites and directories the answers cite.
  • Ask editors to correct outdated articles that get cited for your prompts.
  • Make sure AI search crawlers can read the pages that hold the facts.
  • Keep the prompt tracked and check the next runs for the corrected answer.

Questions

Questions about what people ask AI

Something missing? [email protected]

What questions do people ask AI about a company?

Mostly the ones they would ask a friend: is it any good, what does it cost, how does it compare with a rival, what are the alternatives, and is it right for my situation. Category questions matter just as much, like “best deal tracker for UGC creators”, because that is where AI decides whether to bring you up at all.

Can Rankry show me what people typed into ChatGPT?

No. The question suggestions come from AI answer data about your brand and competitors, not private user conversations. Rankry also keeps answers to your tracked prompts and, with AI Traffic on Pro, the queries passed by Perplexity visitors.

Why don’t Rankry’s suggested prompts mention my brand?

On purpose. The prompts written from your site at onboarding test whether AI brings you up on its own, the way a buyer who hasn’t heard of you would ask. Add branded prompts yourself to see what AI says when someone asks about you by name.

How do I check whether AI describes my pricing and features correctly?

Track prompts like “[your brand] pricing” and “does [your brand] have [feature]”, then read the full answer from each engine. Rankry keeps the full answer for every new run, along with the sources it used, so you can see what was said and where it likely came from.

Which competitors appear when people ask about my brand?

Open a branded or comparison prompt and look at “Who wins this prompt”. It lists every brand named, with its share of answers and its position when named. You can add any of them to your competitors with one click.

Does AI Traffic collect queries from ChatGPT?

No. The “User queries” panel shows real prompts from Perplexity visitors. Visits from ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini are counted with their landing pages, but without the question.

Do I need Pro to find what people ask AI?

Only for AI Traffic, which includes “User queries”. Tracking branded and category prompts, reading full answers and asking Rankry Brain don’t need Pro. Search Console needs the integration on your plan.

Where do the suggested questions come from?

The suggested questions come from AI answers about your brand and tracked competitors. Coverage depends on your project’s country and language. If no matching questions are found, the table stays empty.

How many branded prompts should I track?

Enough to cover the main questions: reviews, pricing, comparisons with your top two or three rivals, alternatives, and fit for your main customer types. For many brands that is 10 to 20 prompts. Each prompt runs on every engine you pick, so each one uses requests from your plan’s monthly pool.

How is this different from a brand monitoring tool?

Brand monitoring tools watch the web and social media for mentions. AI answers aren’t public posts, so someone has to ask the question to see the answer. Rankry asks the AI engines your prompts and records what they say, who they name and which sources they use.
