AI Readiness

AI Readiness checks whether AI search engines can reach, read and quote your site, and grades your homepage from A to F. The Rankry Score tells you whether AI names you; AI Readiness tells you whether it can read you.

The audit reads your homepage only. It runs up to 36 checks in six categories:

CategoryWeightWhat it looks at
Crawl Accessibility15%robots.txt, search crawler access to your homepage and to up to 20 public pages linked from it, sitemap
Rendering & Delivery15%content visible without JavaScript, llms.txt, a Markdown version, hidden content, sitemap update dates
Structured Identity15%Organization, sameAs links, WebSite and Product or Service schema, and how they connect
Content Architecture15%title, meta description, headings, question headings, canonical URL, breadcrumbs
Citation Readiness25%a lead definition, answer paragraphs, standalone sections, FAQ, data tables, sourced statistics, descriptive links
Freshness & Authority15%a machine-readable update date, visible date, author, authenticity, source citations, current references

For the last two categories, an AI model reads your homepage text. A few checks (sourced statistics, source citations, visible date and author) only apply to article or long-form pages, so a typical homepage shows fewer than 36.

AI Search Bot Access tests your robots.txt for five search crawlers: OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Googlebot and Bingbot. All five allowed is a pass, none is a fail, anything in between is partial.

Training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot, Bytespider) are listed for information only. Training access is your choice and doesn’t affect the score. A missing robots.txt doesn’t count against you either, because it doesn’t block anything.

Each check scores Pass 100, Partial 50 or Fail 0. Informational checks aren’t scored. A category’s score is the weighted average of its checks, and the overall score is the weighted average of the six categories.

If a new audit fails exactly the same checks as the last one, Rankry keeps the previous score, so small swings in the AI-judged checks don’t move your grade.

  • Runs used and Available, and Run audit. An audit takes 5 to 10 seconds.
  • Your score, grade and label, a one-line summary, the audited URL and date, and a bar for each category.
  • Critical findings: up to five failing checks, marked Critical, High or Medium.
  • Strengths: up to six checks you pass.
  • Detailed breakdown: a table per category with each check, its details and status. View evidence shows what Rankry found, such as the robots.txt line that matched.

When Rankry can’t fetch your homepage, you see Audit incomplete with the HTTP status and next steps. It shows only that Rankry’s request failed, not that other crawlers are blocked. Check your bot protection and server logs, then run the audit again.

The audit runs automatically after every scan, at no cost to you. Run audit reruns it whenever you like. Manual runs count against your monthly audit allowance, which is shared across your projects and resets every 30 days. A run that fails or ends as Audit incomplete isn’t counted. Your plan sets the allowance: see Plans and billing.

The AI readiness card (“Can AI read and quote your site”) shows your score against the AI-ready line at 85, how many points you need to reach it, and your top open issues. See full audit opens this page. The same failing checks feed step 1 of the Action plan, Fix your website.
