Compete

Compete puts your brand next to the competitors you track, on the same prompts and the same AI engines. It answers two questions: who is winning AI answers in your category, and where exactly do you lose to them?

The page opens with the title Compete and three buttons: Competitors (with how many you track), Notes and Insights. Below them sits the Competitive position summary, then nine widgets.

One strip with four cells:

CellWhat it shows
Competitive positionYour rank by Rankry Score among you and your tracked competitors, for example “2nd of 6”. With 12 brands or fewer, a row of segments shows the field with the leader on the left and your place lit. A Leading badge appears when you’re first.
Your scoreYour Rankry Score for the period, with “N points behind the leader” or “The top score in the field”.
Leader scoreThe highest Rankry Score in the field.
LeaderThe brand that holds it: you or one of your tracked competitors.

If your score ties with a competitor’s, you’re placed above them. The summary always counts every engine.

Rankry doesn’t ask separate prompts for your competitors. Every scan asks your tracked prompts on the engines in your plan, then records which brands each answer names and in what place. Compete reads those same answers for every brand, so you and your competitors are always measured on identical ground.

Each brand gets the metrics you get on the Dashboard: Visibility, Position, Sentiment, Diversity and the Rankry Score, defined in Metrics explained. Only you and the competitors you track appear. Other brands the answers mention are left out, though you can add them from the Competitors panel.

The header controls apply to the whole page.

  • Period. Pick Last 7 days (the default), Last 30 days, Last 90 days, Last 12 months or your own range. Compete uses every answer collected in that period. The period never starts before your first scan, and how far back you can go depends on your plan.
  • Model filter. The All LLMs menu switches the four widgets that have their own engine picker (Competitive leaderboard, Gap to leader, Share of voice and Performance radar) to the engine you choose. You can then change any of those four on its own; picking again in the header resets all four. Competitive position, Momentum, Performance trends, Head-to-head and Category battleground always count every engine.

If the engine you pick has no answers in the period, the widget says “No answers from this model in this window yet.” instead of showing all-engine figures under that engine’s name.

Competitors opens the list of brands Compete measures you against. It’s the same list as Settings → Competitors, so a change in one place shows in the other.

  1. Click Add competitor. The picker lists brands that AI answers have already named in your reports. Search by brand or domain.
  2. Pick a brand. It joins the list marked as new. Remove a competitor with its delete button.
  3. Click Save changes, or Discard to undo.

The counter shows how many you track out of your plan’s limit; see Plans and billing. You always keep at least one competitor.

When you save, Compete recalculates from the answers Rankry has already stored. Nothing is asked again and no report requests are used. The widgets show placeholders for a moment, then the new figures. A competitor you add gets its numbers, and its history in Performance trends, right away from every stored answer that named it. A competitor you remove drops out of every widget.

Notes is the project’s notepad. A note has an optional title and text, and a project holds up to 25. The same notes appear on the Prompts and Sources pages.

Insights opens Rankry Brain on its Competitors breakdown, where you can ask follow-up questions in plain language.

You seeWhat it means
No competitors yetThe project tracks no competitors. Click Add competitors to pick some.
Competitor analysis starts nextYour first report hasn’t collected any answers yet. Your own report pages are available meanwhile.
Analyzing competitorsThe first answers are being collected. Scores appear as each engine answers.
Placeholder blocksThe page is loading a new period, or recalculating after a competitor change.
”Some figures could not be updated. Reconnecting…”A refresh failed and Compete is trying again.

These states only appear before your first answers arrive or while figures reload. Later scans never blank the page: you keep your figures while a scan runs, and the status line in the header shows its progress.

  • Start with Competitive position and the leaderboard to see where you stand.
  • Use Gap to leader to find the metric that costs you most, then Head-to-head and Category battleground to find the prompts and topics behind it.
  • Check Model preferences before you plan content: an engine where a rival leads is an engine where their pages are winning.
  • Widen the period to 30 or 90 days to read Momentum and Performance trends across several scans.
