AI Traffic

AI Traffic shows the people who reach your website from AI apps: which apps send them, which pages they land on, where they’re from and how long they stay. It’s where AI visibility turns into visits.

  1. Open AI Traffic in the sidebar and copy your snippet. It looks like this, with your project’s ID:

    <script async src="https://rankry.ai/t.js" data-project="YOUR_PROJECT_ID"></script>
  2. Add it to the <head> of every page on your site. On most site builders that’s a “custom code” or “header scripts” setting. With Google Tag Manager, add it as a Custom HTML tag on All Pages.

  3. Visit your site from an AI app, for example by clicking a link in a ChatGPT answer, and check that the visit appears.

The script is under 5 KB, loads without blocking your page, sets no cookies and collects no personal data. It ignores visits that don’t come from an AI app.

A visit counts when it comes from an AI app:

  • The referrer is an AI app: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Grok, Copilot, Bing chat, You.com, Phind or Poe.
  • Or there’s no referrer, but the link is tagged with utm_source set to the app’s name or domain, for example utm_source=chatgpt.com. ChatGPT adds this tag to many of the links it shows, so those visits count even when the browser hides where they came from.

Ordinary search, social and direct visits aren’t counted here.

  • Tiles: AI visits, AI platforms, countries and average engagement.
  • Traffic by platform: which apps send the most visits.
  • Top landing pages: the pages AI sends people to. Often these aren’t your homepage.
  • Visitor geography, languages and devices.
  • Engagement: how long visitors stay, measured at 10, 30 and 60 seconds on the page.
  • User queries: for Perplexity, the question the visitor asked, when Perplexity passes it on.
  • Visits: each visit with its source, page and time.

The default period is the last 7 days. You can pick any range your plan’s history allows; the page says when it’s clipped (“Your plan keeps AI traffic from…”).

  • Compare landing pages with your prompts. If AI sends people to a page that doesn’t answer their question, improve that page first.
  • Watch traffic after you ship content. Visits from an app usually move after that app’s Visibility does.
  • Tag your own links. When you share links in places AI apps read, a utm_source tag keeps those visits attributed.

“No AI visits recorded yet” means the script hasn’t reported a visit. Check that:

  • the snippet is on the page (view the page source and search for t.js);
  • the data-project value matches the one in Rankry;
  • the visit really came from an AI app, not a search or a bookmark.
