Momentum
Momentum lists every brand with how its Visibility, Position and Sentiment moved during the selected period, plus an overall direction. It answers: who is gaining on whom right now?
What you see
Section titled “What you see”One row per brand, in leaderboard order, with your row tinted and marked You. Each row shows three changes and a direction chip:
- Vis, Pos and Sent: the change in each metric, green when it improved and red when it slipped.
- The chip on the right: Gaining (arrow up), Losing ground (arrow down) or No change (flat line). Hover it to see the label.
Momentum always counts every engine; the model filter doesn’t change it.
How it’s calculated
Section titled “How it’s calculated”Each figure compares the first scan in the period with where the brand stands at the end of the period. The three metrics use different scales, so read them differently:
| Figure | What the number means | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Vis | The change in Visibility, in percentage points. | 40% to 46% shows +6% |
| Pos | The change in a position score where an average place of 1 is worth 100, 2 is worth 90, down to 10 at 10, as a percentage of where it started. Positive means the brand moved up. | Place 3 to place 2 shows +13% |
| Sent | The relative change in the share of positive mentions. | 50 to 60 shows +20% |
The chip follows the brand’s Rankry Score: up is Gaining, down is Losing ground, unchanged is No change. Because the Score also weighs Diversity and is scaled by Visibility, the chip can point the other way from one of the three figures.
Edge cases
Section titled “Edge cases”- Only one scan in the period: there’s nothing to compare, so every figure reads 0% and every chip says No change. With the default 7-day period this is common.
- A metric that was 0 at the first scan (the brand wasn’t named, ranked or described yet) shows 0% rather than a gain, because there’s no starting value to measure against.
- An average place worse than 10 counts as unranked for Pos.
How to use it
Section titled “How to use it”- Pick Last 30 days or longer so the period holds several scans.
- Look for rivals marked Gaining while you show No change or Losing ground. Then open Performance trends to see when the shift started, and Head-to-head to see the prompts they took.
- After you publish or update content, check that your own row turns green over the following scans.
- A drop that hits every brand at once usually comes from the engines changing how they answer, not from anything a competitor did.
