Prompts

Prompts is the full list of questions Rankry asks for your project, with how each engine answers them. Use it to find the questions where you’re missing, read the answers and keep your list sharp.

A prompt is a question a buyer would type into an AI assistant, like “best CRM for a small agency”. Rankry wrote your first set during setup; you can add your own at any time.

Prompts are grouped by category. Search by text, or filter by category and engine. Picking one engine switches Mentioned, Visibility, Position and Sentiment to that engine’s answers.

ColumnWhat it shows
StatusWhether the latest answers arrived. A retry icon appears when an engine failed.
PromptThe question as it’s sent. Select it to open the detail panel.
ModelsThe engines that answer this prompt.
MentionedEngines that named you, out of the engines that answered.
CitationsDistinct pages the answers cite, counted once across engines.
AI VolumeHow often people ask AI about this. See AI Volume and Volume.
VolumeMonthly Google searches for the same thing.
Opportunity”Open field” or “Low comp.” when the prompt is a good target, with three strength steps. See Opportunities.
VisibilityThe share of this prompt’s answers that name you.
PositionYour average place when named.
SentimentHow the answers describe you.
CompetitorsYour tracked competitors named in the answers.

Status and Prompt stay in place. Use the columns menu to reorder or hide the others.

While a scan runs, cells fill in as each answer arrives.

  • Add prompts opens the window to write or import new ones. See Adding prompts.
  • Edit… in a row’s menu changes the prompt’s category and engines. It applies from the next scan.
  • Delete… removes a prompt from tracking. Select several rows to delete them together.
  • Notes opens a side panel for your own notes on the page.

You can’t edit or delete prompts while a scan is building; the table tells you when it’s done.

Your plan sets how many prompts you can track. Every project keeps a minimum, so the last few can’t be deleted.

Why the prompt text can’t be changed

Each prompt’s history only means something if the question stays the same. To ask something different, add it as a new prompt and delete the old one.

  1. Sort by Visibility to see the prompts where you’re missing.
  2. Check AI Volume and Volume to see which of those questions people actually ask.
  3. Open the prompt and read who’s named instead, and which sources the answers lean on.
  4. Turn what you find into a task, a page or a new source. The Action plan and Opportunities do part of this for you.
