Sources

AI engines with web search read pages before they answer, and they cite them. Sources lists those sites for your prompts, so you can see what AI reads about your category and get onto the pages that matter.

At the answer level. One answer that cites a domain counts once, however many times it links to it. A domain cited by 40 answers was read 40 times in your prompts.

Partial or failed scans still count the answers that arrived.

Filter by topic (your prompt categories), type and engine, or search for a domain.

PriorityHigh, Medium or Low: where to start.
  • You: your own website.
  • Competitor: a tracked competitor’s website.
  • Review: review and comparison sites.
  • Forum: communities and Q&A sites.
  • Reference: encyclopedias, directories and documentation.
  • Editorial: news, blogs and magazines.
  • Yours: answers citing this site name you, not your rivals.
  • Gap: answers citing this site name your rivals, not you. These are the pages to work on.
  • Mixed: they name both.
  • —: they name neither.

Priority weighs how often a site is cited, how many competitors appear with it, and how much you can do about it. Review sites rank highest, then forums, editorial and reference. Your own site and competitors’ sites aren’t something to pitch, so they don’t get a priority.

  1. Filter to Status: Gap and sort by Priority.
  2. Open a domain to read the answers that cite it and see which pages they use.
  3. Act by type.
    • Review: claim your profile, ask happy customers for reviews, get into the comparison articles.
    • Forum: answer the threads honestly and helpfully, where people already ask.
    • Editorial: pitch the outlets that write the round-ups the engines cite.
    • Reference: make sure your entry exists and is accurate.
  4. Check your own site’s share. If the engines rarely cite you, your pages may be hard to read or quote. Run AI Readiness.

The Dashboard’s Sources card sums this up: your own site’s share of citations, the gap sources and the top domains.
