Set up your project

A project is one brand you track: one website, its competitors and its prompts. Setting one up takes a few minutes.

Start a free trial with your email or a Google or Microsoft account, and confirm your email. The trial gives you 7 days on the Base plan with no card.

  1. Enter your domain.

Type your website’s address, for example northwindcrm.com, and select Analyze website. Rankry reads your site to work out what you sell, who you sell to and where.

  2. Review your business info.

Check what Rankry found and fix anything that’s off:

    • Business name. The name AI answers should use for you.
    • Category. Your niche, picked from a list. If none fits, select Suggest your own niche and describe it.
    • Business model. Online, if you sell anywhere, or Local, if customers come to you or you serve an area.
    • Target region. A country for online businesses. A state, city or ZIP code for local ones; in the US, switch between a ZIP code and a state on the field itself.

Rankry asks the AI engines from your target region, so your visibility shows what buyers there see, and the competitors are the ones they’re shown. These answers also shape the prompts and, for local businesses, the map results in Google’s AI answers. When you continue, Rankry creates the project and writes your prompts.

  3. Review your prompts.

Rankry writes buyer-intent prompts for your business, grouped by category, such as “best CRM for a small agency” or “HubSpot alternatives for startups”. Three tabs give you three ways to shape the list:

    • Prompts. The list Rankry wrote. Read it as your buyers would: edit a prompt, or delete the ones that don’t fit, one by one or with Select all and Delete selected.
    • Import. Upload a CSV or plain text file, one prompt per line; a second column can name the category. Or paste a link to a public document: a shared Google Sheet or Google Doc, a public CSV, TSV or TXT file on Google Drive, or a direct link to one. Either way, you review the prompts before they’re added, and Rankry tells you how many rows it skipped.
    • Write or paste. Type prompts or paste a list. Each line becomes one prompt.

Beside the list, Rankry shows how many prompts are selected out of your plan’s limit, the engines that will answer them, the report requests one scan will use and what’s left after this project. Every project keeps a minimum number of prompts.

  4. Create the report.

Select Create report. Rankry sends every prompt to every engine on your plan and opens the Dashboard while the answers come in.

If Rankry can’t read your site or write the prompts, the step tells you what went wrong and what to try next. The most common cause is a site that blocks automated visitors. Check that your homepage loads without a login or a bot check, then try again.
